VIRAL HEPATITIS
Inflammation of the liver (hepatitis) can be caused by many different entities. Examples include infections, drugs, toxins, and metabolic or autoimmune diseases.
Viral infections are the most common cause of hepatitis. The classic hepatitis viruses include hepatitis A, B, and C. These viruses have a high affinity for the liver and with the exception of Hepatitis A can cause chronic hepatitis. In the past decade several new hepatitis viruses have been identified, specifically Hepatitis D, E, F and G.
