Hospital-acquired infections are increasing as medical institutions attempt to treat sicker and more complex patients...

These infections typically involve resistant bacteria. They tend to result in greater morbidity and mortality. They also increase the cost of hospitalization significantly. Hospitals in the Carolina Lowcountry are determined to provide quality care to their patients and limit their risk for costly hospital-acquired infections. Infection Control practitioners are developing comprehensive infection control programs at local medical institutions in an attempt to decrease the risk and occurrence of hospital-acquired infections.

All of the Lowcountry Infectious Disease, P.A. physicians serve as infection control directors or consultants at area hospitals. Dr. Ludwig Lettau has special training in infection control.
